Entry-level DPT- Doctor of Physical Therapy
Main Campus (Union, NJ)
Welcome to the developing Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at Kean University. Our 3-year, post-baccalaureate Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program is currently in the early stages of development, the pre-accreditation stage, with the intent of achieving full accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). http://www.capteonline.org/
The purpose of the DPT Program at Kean University is to educate, develop, and support aspiring Doctors of Physical Therapy to become skilled clinicians, who are prepared to conscientiously and efficiently enter a dynamic and demanding clinical practice environment.
Through an innovative and unique combination of hands-on, Interprofessional, problem-based, “flipped” and online course delivery methods, the future graduates of the Doctor of Physical therapy Program at Kean University will be:
Public Notice of Pre-Candidacy
Graduation from a physical therapist education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), 1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA 22314; phone; 703-706-3245; email@example.com is necessary for eligibility to sit for the licensure examination, which is required in all states.
Kean University is seeking accreditation of a new physical therapist education program from CAPTE. The program will submit an Application for Candidacy on or before December 1st 2015, which is the formal application required in the pre-accreditation stage. Submission of this document does not assure that the program will be granted Candidate for Accreditation status. Achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status is required prior to implementation of the professional phase of the program; therefore, no students may be enrolled in professional courses until Candidate for Accreditation status has been achieved. Further, though achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status signifies satisfactory progress toward accreditation, it does not assure that the program will be granted accreditation. All students accepted into the charter DPT class of 2019 will be accepted conditionally and graduation will be contingent upon full accreditation status as granted by CAPTE.
