International Applicants

Kean University welcomes applications for those applicants from abroad who meet the minimum requirements for admission to the Nathan Weiss Graduate College.  With a location less than 30 minutes from New York City and a little over an hour to Philadelphia, Kean is an ideal location for international students!
 

Important Information

All international applicants are strongly encouraged to apply at least six months in advance of the anticipated start date of the semester.  This will ensure the applicant, if accepted, is able to satisfy all immigration requirements in order to secure an F-1 student visa.

Application Process for International Applicants

If you are considered an International Applicant, please follow all admissions requirements for the University, including:

  • TOEFL or IELTS – The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is required of all international students and students who have completed their prior education in a country where English is not the native language.  Exceptions can be made for students who have completed at least 6 credits of college level English courses from a U.S. institution or who have submitted SAT or ACT exam scores.

    TOEFL scores are valid for two years and must be sent directly from the Educational Test Service (ETS), using institution code 2517.  For more information on the TOEFL, please visit http://www.ets.org/toefl.

    IELTS scores are valid for two years and sent directly from your Testing Center.  You will need to complete the Test Report Form which can be found here, http://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/find-out-about-results/results-process.  For more information about the IELTS, please visit http://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/

TOEFL Internet Based Test (iBT) - 79

TOEFL Paper Based Test (PBT) - 550

IELTS Minimum Band Score- 6.5

  • Foreign Credential Evaluation - If you have completed any part of or all of your post-high school education outside the United States, you must have your foreign educational credentials evaluated by a credential evaluation service that is a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). The results of this evaluation must be sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions by the published deadline for your program.   Please be advised that neither NACES nor any of its member service providers have any affiliation with Kean University.  A current list of NACES members may be found at www.naces.org.
  • Concurrent to admissions process for the Nathan Weiss Graduate College, all international applicants are required to submit the International Student Supplement to the Office of International Student Services.  This supplement is required for all applicants requiring an I-20 (Affidavit of Eligibility) that is required to secure an F-1 Student Visa.  For more information, please visit the Office of International Student Services.

International Student Deposits

If you have been accepted to the Nathan Weiss Graduate College, the next step is to submit your tuition deposit, which is credited towards your first semester's tuition charges.  Kean University has an online service for payment of the tuition fee.  Simply visit kean.peertransfer.com to make an online payment of your tuition deposit!
