Program Description
The Master of Public Administration program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) and is designed to prepare graduates for middle or senior level positions as public administrators. The primary focus of the program is on in-service students seeking to undertake graduate study on a part-time basis in order to upgrade and improve their practical skills and theoretical backgrounds. These students come from municipal, county, state, and non-profit agencies in the region served by Kean University. Each year a small number of students are admitted without extensive government experience.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the University’s admission requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (lower GPA’s will be considered based on overall strength of application
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- Two letters of recommendation
- Departmental interview may be required
- Personal statement
- Writing sample
- Professional Resume/CV
- TOEFL (for applicants whose native language is not English)

- 21 credits in foundation courses
- 18 credits in electives
- 3 credit culminating research seminar
- 6 credit internship (may be waived for students with appropriate experience)
