PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This program fulfills the requirements for New Jersey Certification as a Reading Specialist and provides the skills and techniques necessary for work with pupils who have reading problems and for work with teachers in the prevention of reading disabilities. Students completing all requirements are eligible for New Jersey Certification as a Reading Specialist.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Baccalaureate and master’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Official transcripts from all institutions attended
  • New Jersey Standard Instructional Certificate
  • Professional Resume/CV
  • Personal statement
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores (for applicants whose native language is not English). Exceptions can be made for students who have completed at least 6 credits of college level English courses from a U.S. institution, or who have submitted SAT or ACT exam scores.
